TUITION AND PAYMENT
Tuition holds your weekly time slot in your teacher’s schedule throughout the year and is required regardless of attendance. Tuition for private lessons is based off of a 42-lesson schedule paid over a 10-month period, August-May. The Thanksgiving, Winter, and Spring Break schedule of Denver Public Schools has been factored into the lesson calendar. 37 lessons will be offered between August, 2025 and May, 2026. The remaining 5 lessons are to be scheduled over the summer and can be flexibly adjusted to fit your travel and holiday plans. Summer lessons must be used between June 1st and August 15th and will not roll over to the following school year.
Students who begin lessons mid-school year will receive a prorated tuition rate for the remaining lessons in the current cycle.
Payment may be made online via your account on Fons, or directly to your private instructor via Venmo, Zelle, Check, or Cash. You are responsible for any bounced check fees.
ATTENDANCE
No credits or refunds will be offered for student absences. Teachers are not obligated to reschedule or offer make-up lessons due to student absence. In the event that your student is sick but has the energy to take a lesson, we ask that you reach out to set up a virtual lesson in lieu of meeting in-person. If you know of a conflict ahead of time, get in touch with your private teacher as early as possible, and stay in contact for additional practice ideas and assignments.
If you arrive late for a lesson, you will receive instruction for the remainder of your scheduled time. Lessons will not be extended for late arrivals.
In the event that your instructor cancels a lesson for any reason, the lesson will be rescheduled or offered as an additional lesson in the summer, depending on the student’s preference.
SUMMER LESSON POLICY
Year-round study is vital to consistent and continued progress, but we realize that families have very different schedules over the summer months. Scheduling during the summer is flexible and lessons may be rescheduled with 48-hours notice. Lessons that are missed or canceled with less than 48-hours notice will not be rescheduled, and you will be charged for your reserved time.
Additional lessons may be scheduled for the summer at the following rates:
$40 for 30 minutes
$60 for 45 minutes
$80 for 60 minutes
INCLEMENT WEATHER
In the event of inclement weather that prevents you from safely traveling to your lesson, a virtual lesson will be offered over Zoom at your regularly scheduled time.
RECITALS
Performance is an important component of musical study and students are highly encouraged to participate in recital opportunities throughout the year. Recital fees are assessed separately from tuition and are used to cover the cost of concert hall rental and an accompanist when applicable.
HOLIDAYS
If your lesson falls on a national holiday, please contact your private instructor directly to discuss your options. Your teacher may offer lessons on the holiday, but you are entitled to reschedule the lesson to another time that is convenient for you and the instructor, should you wish.
PRACTICE
Consistent practice is crucial to student success. Progress requires active dedication. Keep in mind that even a short amount of daily practice is better than irregular or non-existent practice.
